Dallas senior multiple-sport athlete Omar Nijmeh is in Europe competing with the American International Sports Team in lacrosse after making a national team of high school all-stars throughout a tryout in Baltimore earlier this year.

Nijmeh was offered a spot on AIST’s tour of England, Ireland and Scotland after his performance in the invitation-only tryout.

Nijmeh left for Europe on Aug. 5 and will return on Aug. 15.

According to AIST’s website, the organization’s teams get invited to international competitions with national teams and club teams from around the world. AIST organizes the entire trip, which typically combines 5-7 games in 10 days with sightseeing and cultural education.

At Dallas, Nijmeh plays football, basketball and lacrosse after also playing baseball as a catcher during his freshman year. He will report back to the football team, joining in preseason practices as soon as he returns, according to his mother, Pam.

“He has the opportunity of a lifetime, to represent his country,” Pam Nijmeh said.

Nijmeh plays midfield in lacrosse. He began the sport with the Back Mountain Bandits and now plays with the Bison Brawlers club team from Lewisburg in addition to his time with the Mountaineers and his commitment to AIST.
