The inaugural Jason Schilling Memorial Home Run Derby will be held from noon to 5 p.m. today, June 1 at the Dallas Senior High School baseball field. It was rescheduled from its original May 18 date due to inclement weather. Registration will be held from 11 a.m. to noon.
The unique fund raising event is being held in memory of Jason Schilling, a three-year baseball letter winner (2010-2012) at Dallas Senior High, who died tragically in an auto accident on Dec. 1, 2012. Proceeds will benefit an annual “Jason Schilling Memorial Scholarship Fund” (to benefit a senior Dallas High student-athlete) and St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, where Schilling volunteered.
Participants may register in one of three age groups: Junior High (ages 13-15), Senior High (high school sophomores, juniors and seniors) and College/Adult (college age 19 and over and any adults).
Winners will receive a plaque, publicity and a complimentary photo/poster keepsake. Entry fee is $10 and includes a T-shirt and refreshments.
For more information or to donate to the event, contact Jim Schilling at 570-574-0376.
