Local farm animal refuge, Indraloka Animal Sanctuary, is hosting its annual Thanksgiving celebration on Sunday, Nov. 23, with a compassionate twist. Aptly named ThanksLIVING, this holiday feast will be for the birds, with a dinner created especially for the turkeys, including cranberries, raw pumpkin pie, pumpkin seeds, a huge spinach salad, blueberries, and other healthy, delicious treats.
Tickets to the event include a catered lunch by Nucleus Raw Foods in Luzerne and live music by acoustic bluegrass band The Hickory Project with Master of Ceremonies Mark Hiller from WBRE EyeWitness News. Also included are sanctuary tours, professional photos with the farm animals, and raffles with prizes from Sunshine Burger, VCA Animal Hospital, Jaya Yoga, Brad’s Raw Kale Chips, and SO Delicious Dairy Free. Additionally, the sanctuary will present animal hero awards to locals in the community, and guests will be entertained with an unforgettable juggling performance (for the kid in all of us!).
Indra Lahiri, founder of the sanctuary explains, “ThanksLiving is for everyone. We’re dedicated to our mission to inform, inspire, and empower the community. This event is a fun way to encourage everyone to begin new, compassionate holiday traditions, to celebrate their gratitude, and to choose a kind way to celebrate. We’re thrilled to offer the opportunity to do so with ThanksLiving at Indraloka Animal Sanctuary.”
This event is being made possible with sponsorships from Airside, Inc, Duffy’s Tents and Events, Reeve’s Rent-A-John, Fibers of the Earth, and Scranton Animal Hospital.
Tickets are $40 and can be purchased in advance by going to http://thanksliving2014.bpt.me/.
