Jeff Puckett was recognized on the MAC Player of the Week Honor Roll after leading Misericordia University to its first home football victory in school history.

Puckett, a junior quarterback, carried 29 times for 224 yards and three touchdowns while throwing a 17-yard touchdown pass Sept. 20 when Misericordia defeated FDU-Madison, 35-0.

Rob Hart and Donald Bender each made six tackles and Tim Kelly recovered a fourth-quarter fumble to take away an FDU-Madison threat and preserve the first shutout in school history.

Misericordia, in its third season of football, came into the game with a 1-21 overall record all-time and had given up at least 31 points in all 22 of those games. The only previous victory was also against FDU-Madison, 63-40, in New Jersey in last year’s season finale.

Ryan Kurtz caught the touchdown pass and added 68 yards rushing. Brandon Leap ran for the other score.
