An Apprise program counselor will be available to meet with senior citizens who have questions about Medicare and affiliated programs from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the office of Senator Lisa Baker in the Dallas Shopping Center on the Memorial Highway.
Appointments are required and can be scheduled by calling 570-675-3931.
The counselor is being provided by the Area Agency on Aging of Luzerne and Wyoming counties as a courtesy to Sen. Baker’s constituents and will discuss the open enrollment period that begins Oct. 15 and runs through Dec. 7. This is the only time of the year when both Part D and Medicare Advantage Plan members can change their plans for the upcoming year.
The counselor can also answer questions regarding Medicaid, long-term care insurance, Medigap, screening and applying for the financial assistance program and to discuss fraud and abuse.
Those scheduling appointments must bring photo ID, their Medicare card and proof of income, including Social Security earnings.
