CEMETERY ITEMS

NEED REMOVAL

The Benscoer Cemetery Assocition requests all old decorations (Christmas and last summer) be removed by April 28 or they will be discarded. Family members of those buried in the cemetery are asked to take the items with them, if possible.

EASTER EGG HUNT

The Franklin Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 2 p.m. today, April 13 on the fire grounds located at 329 Orange Road, an extension of Eighth Street, Dallas.

The hunt is age-appropriate as it is divided into two specific areas. Children through age 12 are welcome and are invited to come early for crafts and games. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

Refreshments will be served and all children will receive a bag of candy.

MEETING

The NEPA Coast Guard Veterans Assoc. will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16 at Perkins Restaurant on Route 315

ROAST BEEF DINNER

A roast beef dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at the Northmoreland Twp. Fire Hall in Centermoreland.

Tickets, available at the door, are $8 for adults and $4 for children under the age of 12. Takeouts will be available.

The Friends of the Back Mountain Memorial Library have set Thursday, April 24 for their annual Luncheon With A Special Author at the Appletree Terrace, Newberry Estate, Dallas.

Tickets are on sale at the library on Huntsville Road in Dallas.

EARTH DAY CLEAN UP

Earth Day Clean Up will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 26 at Frances Slocum State Park

Volunteers are needed to help with tasks such as leaf raking, litter pick up and brush cutting. Meet at the park office. Groups of five or more are asked to call and pre-register.

Mountin’ Cancer 5K, a Misericordia University Sport Management student-run event supporting the Medical Oncology Associates Prescription Fund, will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 27 at Frances Slocum State Park.

LIBRARY, LEGGIO’S

FUNDRAISER

Friends of the Back Mountain Memorial Library and Leggio’s Italian Restaurant, 64 E. Center Hill Road, Dallas will join together to host a fundraising event from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, april 30 at the restaurant to support the Back Mountain Memorial Library and the activities of the Children’s Summer Reading Program.

A percentage of the total sales (bar not included) taken in during that time, including eat-in, take out and gift certificates purchased, will be donated to the library.

CONTRA DANCE

A New England Contra dance featuring music by the band “the Contra Rebels” with Todd Clewell and Barb Schmid on fiddles, accompanied by Henry Koretzky on guitar, along with calling by Dave Colestock will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at the Church of Christ Uniting, 776 Market St., Kingston.

No partner or previous experience is necessary. Admission to the dance is “pay what you wish.” Come early at 6 p.m. for a pot-luck dinner.

‘THE PIED PAPER’

“The Pied Piper,” an original musical for children, will be performed at 1 p.m. on May 4, at 6 p.m. on May 9 and at 1 and 5 p.m. on May 10 at the Music Box Dinner Playhouse, 196 Hughes St., Swoyersville. AUDITIONS

Auditions for “Nunsense A-Men” will be held at 7 p.m. on May 12 and 13 at the Music Box Dinner Playhouse, 196 Hughes St., Swoyersville.

The nuns’ roles are played by men. All roles open for men ages 16 and over. All are required to sing a song of choice and read from the script. Performance dates are June 12-15 and 19-22.
