BRONX, N.Y. — Lake-Lehman’s Dominic Hockenbury had his junior cross country season come to an end with a strong finish at the Foot Locker Northeast Regionals Nov. 29 at Van Cortlandt Park.

The state Class AA and District 2 Class AA champion finished 15th in a field of 158 runners from eight states in the seeded boys race.

Hockenbury missed by eight seconds finishing in the top 10 and advancing to the Dec. 13 Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego. He completed the 3.1-mile course in 15:53.7.

Alex Ostberg, of Darien, Conn. won the race in 15:17.8.

Hockenbury was second in the state as a sophomore before winning his title this season.

The event also included team scoring for the runners from each state. Pennsylvania placed second behind New York, 52-54, out of the eight states.

Maggie Toczko, of Tunkhannock, placed 60th of 123 in the seeded girls race where Pennsylvania won the team state competition easily over Massachusetts, 29-52.

Toczko, a junior, finished seventh in the state in Class AA.

State Class AA girls champion Ally Rome from Dallas missed the race because of an illness.
