Tunkhannock is expected to be bustling with activity on Oct. 4 for the annual Airing of the Quilts, but this year there are added quilting happenings, with the P.A. Designs and Friends Quilt Sale and Craft Show.

The P.A. Designs show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Triton Banquet Hall, 116 West Tioga Street, Tunkhannock, just west of downtown Tunkhannock. Admission is free.

Patti S. Hozempa, owner of P.A. Designs will hold the premier sale of her new book, “Now Why Didn’t I Think of That: Quilting Tips and Hints from My Experience to Your Success.” The book is in notebook form with pages of hints for quilters of all experience levels and plenty of room for the purchaser to take their own notes as they read and learn.

Hozempa will be on hand to discuss her book and answer any questions quilters may have, as well as talk about examples of the free patterns included in the book.

A lunch consisting of homemade pulled pork sandwiches, chips, pickles, beverage, and homemade cookie will be served at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $5 and will benefit Eatonville United Methodist Church.

Although quilting is the theme of the day, there will be plenty of other things to see and do.

Weaving demonstrations will be performed by the Home Textile and Tool Museum of Orwell. Weavers will use the scrap from fabric and will also do a rag ball winding “hands-on” demonstration with the children.

Other vendors include French Creek Alpacas, of New Albany; 4 Seasons Farm Market, Meshoppen; handmade Victorian jewelry by Sarah Sleboda of Boutique Libertina, Dickson City; handmade wood toys by Jerry and Terry Beaucheane, Tunkhannock; handmade wooden spoons from felled hurricane trees by Jeff Kuchak, of Nicholson; Jagger’s Doggie Deil, Nescopeck; hand painted glass stem wear by Artistic Tiger, Tunkhannock; candles by Common Scents in the Sticks, Sweet Valley; Home Textile and Tool Museum, Orwell; and Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau and Ah Some Chocolates, Shavertown.
