Audrey Aristeo, an eighth-grade student at Dallas Middle School, recently held a book sale of a book she had written in seventh grade as part of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), a national writing competition that takes place every November. The book is entitled “Sacred To Me” and involves the themes of good and evil, love and redemption in a fantasy setting.
Dan Flynn, Aristeo’s science teacher, managed the sale. The books were made available by pre-order to all interested students and faculty. A total of 50 books were soldand $150 was raised. Proceeds from the sale were donated to Blue Chip Farms Animal Refuge, a no-kill animal shelter in Dallas.
Additionally, “Sacred To Me” was included in the sixth-grade gifted curriculum this past year.
Aristeo is currently working on her second book.
