Family Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania (FSA NEPA) is finalizing plans for its Pauly Friedman 5K Family Walk/Run which was organized shortly after the untimely death of long time volunteer for FSA NEPA and past president of its Board of Directors, Pauly Friedman.

This year will mark the sixth year for the event which is slated for Sunday, Aug. 10 at Misericordia University in Dallas.Registration for this 3.1 mile event is at 8:30 a.m. with the race beginning at 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration is suggested with the first 300 registrants guaranteed an “official” event t-shirt. Walk-ups will be accepted on race day. All participants must raise a minimum of $25 in donations to receive awards.

This year’s event will also feature a “Basket Bonanza” where approximately 25 baskets filled with various items along with gift certificates will be on display and made available to those attending the event by making a donation. Many local businesses and people associated with FSA NEPA have donated the items that will be included in the baskets.

Proceeds from this fun-filled day will benefit Help Line/211, an information, referral, and first response point for crisis calls in 17 counties. Help Line is operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by professional caseworkers ready to assist in any situation. In partnership with several United Way organizations and grants received and money raised by the agency, access to Help Line can now be done by simply dialing 211.

Those interested in registering for the Family Walk/ Run may do so by contacting FSA NEPA at 570-823-5144 or email
