Mike Adamshick was the top finisher from Dallas during the 19th Annual Steamtown Marathon on Oct. 12.

Adamshick, 36, covered the 26.2-mile course from Forest City to downtown Scranton in 3:07:05. He placed 124th out of the record number of 2,182 runners who completed the race.

Joyce Foster from Dallas and Shari Philmeck from Tunkhannock each finished high in their age groups.

Foster, 59, finished in 4:07:02 to place 776th overall and fourth in the women’s 55-59 age group.

Philmeck, 65, was second among women 65-69 in 5:29:45.

Fred Joslyn from East Syracuse, N.Y. and 2011 champion Peter Kemboi, a Kenyan now living in Kentucky, finished 1-2 for the second straight year. Joslyn won in 2:22:37.

Jen Rock, a 24-year-old from Macomb, Mich., prevented Scranton’s Heidi Peoples from becoming the first four-time women’s champion and also took the course record away from Peoples with a finish of 2:39:46. Peoples was second in 2:46:30.
