During a special meeting held Feb, 8, the Harveys Lake Council approved the hiring of five new part-time police officers. The newly-hired officers are: William Acuff, Brian Gasper, Kenneth Kugler, Jerome Leedock and Corey Pavinski.
The department now has two full-time and eight part-time police officers. Officer Kevin Novakowski has resigned from the department.
Frank O’Connell was selected out of five applicants and is now on the job after receiving training, as the borough’s new zoning officer. O’Connell replaced Andy Luzetski, who recently retired from the position.
Also, the borough has also obtained a new police cruiser with the old cruiser being used by Luzetski.
Council accepted the resignation of Michael A. Dziak from the borough’s planning commission. Dziak has served as a longtime member of the commission.
The next council meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. on March 18.
