Dominic Hockenbury from Lake-Lehman and Ally Rome from Dallas made it a Back Mountain sweep of the Class AA individual state titles Saturday at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Cross Country Championships in Hershey.

Hockenbury, a silver medalist last year behind Dominic Deluca of Dallas, completed the 3.1-mile Parkview Course in 16:01 to win by 13 seconds.

Rome and Lindsey Oremus gave Dallas the top two Class AA girls finishers a year after both were key contributors to a state team championship for the Mountaineers.

Rome won in 18:44. Oremus finished in 18:49. The two Dallas runners were 17 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack.

Hockenbury and Rome, both juniors, led a big day by District 2 runners. The Elk Lake (Class A) and Scranton Prep (Class AA) girls teams both finished second; the Holy Cross girls (Class A) and Scranton Prep boys (Class AA) finished third; and 18 runners received individual medals for finishing in the top 25 in their races.

Dallas finished fifth in girls and eighth in boys in the Class AA team standings.

Tunkhannock had Maggie Toczko finish seventh in Class AA girls and Jack Tidball ninth and Jacob Toczko 19th in Class AA boys.
