Misericordia University will host the 2014 Back Mountain Chamber, Business & Community Expo and the spring meeting of the Back Mountain Historical Association on Thursday, April 10. The expo is being held in Dudrick, Muth, Huntzinger and Alden Trust Rooms 216-29 of Sandy and Marlene Insalaco Hall from 4 to 7 p.m. The historical association’s presentation begins at 7 p.m. in Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall.
The events are open free to the public and business community.
The expo will offer more than 60 Back Mountain businesses and entrepreneurs considering establishing or relocating their businesses to the region an opportunity to showcase their wares and services with prospective clients and fellow business owners. The expo also provides businesses a platform to outline how they contribute to the economic, social and cultural well-being of the Back Mountain.
Student volunteers in Misericordia University’s Business Professional Association, as well as students in Penn State-Wilkes-Barre’s Ambassador’s Club are assisting with organizing and running the event.
The public is invited to attend the expo starting where an array of door prizes will be awarded to attendees and a display of refreshments will be provided by Gerrity’s Supermarkets and Fire and Ice Restaurant. The Beaumont Inn will provide delicacies from its menu, along with wine tastings from Bartolai Winery and ice cream from The Lands at Hillside Farms.

At the spring meeting of the Back Mountain Historical Association, Kathleen Smith, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, will make the presentation, “The Daughters of the American Revolution and Patriots of the Wyoming Valley,’’ beginning at 7 p.m. in Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall. She will cover the early days of the organization, its evolution over time and its connections to the patriots of the greater Wyoming Valley.
Light refreshments will be served in the lobby of Insalaco Hall following the meeting.
The Back Mountain Historical Association offers local history presentations every April and October. The presentations are free and open to the public.
