Nehemiah Ide fought in the Revolutionary War, brought his family from Stockbridge. Mass. and settled in Lehman Township in 1800. In the early 1900s, his descendants held a family reunion which began the tradition.
The Ide family will celebrate its112th family reunion on Saturday, June 28 at picnic pavilion 3 at Frances Slocum State Park. The traditional covered dish buffet will begin at noon, followed by a short business meeting. To help defray the cost of the reunion, there will be a basket raffle, games for the young and the young at heart, and prizes for the oldest and youngest family member present and the family member traveling the farthest, as well as some unique categories.
Kathleen Smith, Regent Shawnee Fort Daughters of the American Revolution, will speak on the organization, its mission and the application process. As Nehemiah Ide served in the Revolutionary War, his direct descendants are eligible for membership in the DAR. Kathleen will help anyone interested in becoming a member with the application process.
Births, deaths, marriages for the genealogy book as well as address changes may be submitted at the reunion or mailed to: Ide Family, P.O. Box 176 Lehman, PA 18627-0176.
