Vouchers

The Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne/Wyoming Counties has available Senior Farmers Market vouchers and will hold a distribution at the Active Adult Centers listed below for any senior who qualifies and has not yet received vouchers for this program year.

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, developed by the Federal and State Dept. of Agriculture, provides each eligible senior with four $5 vouchers ($20) which can only be used to purchase Pennsylvania grown fresh fruits and vegetables from a participating farmer’s market stand. Produce purchased from wholesales is not eligible for purchase with FMNP checks. Only 1 set of vouchers ($20) is allowed per individual per year.

To be eligible for the vouchers, an individual is required to: 1) be at least 60 years of age or celebrate their 60th birthday this year, 2) live in Luzerne or Wyoming Counties, and 3) meet the income requirements – total income in household for one person— $21,590; two people—$29,101. Documentation of age and residency is required- a driver’s license or photo license is sufficient. Also, anyone residing in an assisted living facility, nursing home or convent where meals are provided does not qualify for the program. If a senior is unable to pick up the vouchers, he/she can send someone in their place as long as the person presents a signed and completed proxy form when picking up the vouchers; this includes spouses and individuals with Power of Attorney. Proxy forms are available at any of our Active Adult centers.
