Both Dallas teams and the Lake-Lehman boys used strong regular-season performances to earn first-round home games, which they turned into victories in the District 2 soccer playoffs.

Only the Lake-Lehman girls were eliminated in the first round of district play.

The Dallas girls won the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 title with the conference’s only unbeaten record, then were just as impressive in the first playoff game, defeating Western Wayne 11-0, Wednesday night.

Ruby Mattson scored three goals, Courtney Wagner had two and six teammates added a goal each to send Dallas into the quarterfinals.

The Dallas boys also rolled through the first round, clobbering Berwick, 9-0, Tuesday night.

The Mountaineers scored only once in the first 33-plus minutes before breaking loose and building an 8-0 lead at the midway point of the second half.

Donald Michalisin, Devin Michalec and Eric Llewellyn scored two goals each for Dallas.

Lake-Lehman had to work much harder for its victory.

The Black Knights outshot Wyoming Area, 22-2, but trailed after an early penalty kick goal and had to fight back from a 2-1 overtime triumph.

Nick Wnuk scored 5:43 into overtime to send Lake-Lehman to the quarterfinals.

Josh Donvito’s goal in the 13th minute put Wyoming Area ahead until Tanner MacDougal scored midway through the second half.

The Lake-Lehman girls were eliminated by Crestwood, 3-1, Wednesday.

After Crestwood opened a 3-0 lead early in the second half, Julia Hutsko scored the only goal for Lake-Lehman.
