DALLAS — Mary E. Parker, 96, of Dallas, passed away June 7, 2014, at Mercy Center, Dallas. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband, Frank T. Parker. A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 21 in St. Therese’s Church, Pioneer Avenue and Davis Street, Shavertown. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.

YANEK

LEHMAN — George A. Yanek, 94, of Lehman, passed away June 16, 2014, at the Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton. He was employed as a carpenter. Services will be private with arrangements by the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., Dallas.

STAHOVIC

DALLAS, Texas — Josephine Ann Kerwin Stahovic, originally of Wilkes-Barre, died June 14, 2014, at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. She and her husband, Stephen John Stahovic, would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary in December. She had family in Shavertown. Funeral services in Texas were conducted at the Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco. A memorial service for friends and former classmates was held June 26 in St. Nicholas Church, South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre.

DALLAS — Lorraine Richards (nee Elmy), of Dallas, passed away June 17, 2014, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William O. Richards. Funeral was June 20 in the Church of Christ Uniting, Market and Sprague avenues, Kingston. Arrangements by the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — Glenn Carman Scafella, 76, continued on his journey to eternal life on June 17, 2014. Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie. He had family in Dallas. At Glenn’s request, there were no formal services.

McCALLICK

WILKES-BARRE — Mary K. O’Connell McCallick, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on June 17, 2014, at Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre. She was preceded in death by her husband, William McCallick, who passed away on Dec. 23, 1994. She had family in Dallas. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 21 in St. Benedict’s Church, Austin Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.

TRUCKSVILLE — Ann B. “Dusty” Metzgar, 62, of Trucksville, passed away June 20, 2014, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Kingston, Ann was the daughter of the late Philip and Ann Evanitis Tondora and was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, class of 1969. TRUCKSVILLE — Nancy R. Hitchings, 79, of Trucksville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 27, 2014. A memorial service was hel June 26 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 474 Yalick Road, off Route 118, Dallas.

PIKES CREEK — Francis W. Cornell Jr., 81, of Pikes Creek, passed away unexpectedly June 21, 2014, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Francis is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Williams. Funeral services were June 25 from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.

NARCUM

HANOVER TWP. — Julia M. Narcum, of Hanover Township, died peacefully on June 22, 2014, after suffering for several years with Alzheimer’s disease. She was married to the late Leonard Anthony Narcum Sr. and had family in Shavertown. Funeral was June 26 from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in All Saints Parish, 66 Willow St., Plymouth.

RITTENHOUSE

DALLAS — James F. Rittenhouse Jr., 62, formerly of Dallas, passed away June 23, 2014, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. In accordance with Jim’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a future date. There will be no calling hours.

FORTY FORT — Diane Wanyo, 61, a resident of Forty Fort, passed away on June 21, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She celebrated her 39th wedding anniversary with her loving husband, Edward M. Wanyo, on April 12. She had family in Dallas. A visitation was held June 26 at the Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with a memorial Mass June 27 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville.

WAJERS

WILKES-BARRE — Catherine C. Wajers, 80, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2014, at Commonwealth Hospice Care, St. Luke’s Villa, Wilkes-Barre. Catherine was born and raised in Ashley, where she graduated from Ashley High School, lived much of her life and raised her family. She had family in Shavertown. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by Mamary-Durkin Funeral Services, Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre.
