Several members of the Misericordia University Honors Program recently participated in a Day of Service at the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker Farm in Harveys Lake.
Misericordia University students and faculty were divided into two shifts to work on the self-sustaining, organic farm that provides produce to people in need in the region. Misericordia volunteers harvested beans (pinto and black beans), split wood and tended to the animals on the farm. For their efforts, the farm donated two burlap bags of beans, about 10 pounds of green peppers, and 20 pounds of red cabbage for the Catherine McAuley Center in Scranton.
The University Honors program requires students to participate in honors sections of their core courses, participate in Honors Exploration Seminars, complete an Honors Capstone project and achieve a grade point average above 3.25.
