DR. EVANS NAMED

OPTOMETRIC DIRECTOR

Dr. Darrell Evans has recently been appointed to the position of optometric director at Eye Care Specialists.

In his new position, Dr. Evans will be responsible for assuring compliance with optometric clinical practice standards. He will work with the professional services administrator to provide guidance and leadership.

THEDE NAMED

TO DEAN’S LIST

Mary E. Thede, daughter of William and Maureen Thed,e of Dallas, has been named to the Dean’s List at Hamilton College for the 2013 fall semester.

To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above.

Thede is participating in Hamilton College’s Academic Year in Madrid, Spain, for the 2014 spring semester.

The Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain (HCAYS) offers small liberal arts-oriented classes as well as the opportunity to enroll directly in the Madrid University system.

A junior majoring in Hispanic studies at Hamilton, Thede is a graduate of Wyoming Seminary.

TEAM MEMBERS

Kyle Hromisin, seventh grade, and Bobby Austin, eighth grade, both of Dallas, are members of the Wyoming Seminary 2014 MATHCOUNTS team.

The team recently took third place in the Keystone Northeast Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition held at the Wyoming Valley West Middle School. Austin placed second in the competition’s Countdown Round.

FOUR NAMED

TO DEAN’S LIST

Ashley Jackson, of Shavertown, Ashley Shotwell, of Tunkhannock and Alyssa Cybulski and Chelsea Martin, both of Dallas, have been named to the fall 2013 Dean’s List at University of the Sciences.

Selection for this award is based on completing and passing all assigned courses with no grade below a “C” and attaining an academic average of at least 3.4 for courses taken in the fall of 2013.

Jackson, Cybulski and Shotwell are doctor of pharmacy students. Martin is a master of occupational therapy student.

THREE NAMED

TO DEAN’S LIST

Colby Rome, of Tunkhannock, McKenzie Kelly and Amanda Thompson, both of Dallas, have been named to the Dean’s List at Bucknell University for the fall semester of the 2013-14 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition.

Rome is the son of Eric and Robin Rome and a 2013 graduate of Tunkhannock Aea High School. Kelly is the daughter of Michael and Yvonne Kelly and a 2011 graduate of Dallas High School and Thompson is the daughter of Steven and Diane Thompson and a 2010 graduate of Dallas High School.

RUCH INDUCTED

INTO SOCIETY

Stephen Ruch, of Dallas, was one of 11 Wilkes University education majors inducted into Phi Phi, the University’s chapter of the international honor society in education Kappa Delta Pi.

Qualifications for membership include sophomore standing, a grade point average in the upper quintile of the student’s institution or a “B” average, at least 12 credit hours of education courses programmed, in progress or completed and demonstrated commitment to the educational field.

Ruch is a junior middle level education major with a specialty in mathematics. He is the son of Ted and Dianne Ruch.
