‘URINETOWN’ COMES

TO MUSIC BOX

The Music Box Players will present “Urinetown: The Musical” today, March 30, April 4-6 and 11-13 at the Music Box Dinner Playhouse, 196 Hughes St, Swoyersville

“Urinetown” is a Tony Award winning musical considered to be one the finest musical satires to hit Broadway, hailed by critics to be enormously inventive with one of the finest musical scores of the 1990s.

MOUNTAIN GRANGE

MEETING SET

Mountain Grange No. 567 will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. on April 1 in the Grange Hall, 1632 W. 8th St., Kingston Township.

Speaker for the evening will be Thomas Jesso, president of The Shawnee Cemetery Preservation Association who will speak about how to save forgotten cemeteries overgrown by Mother Nature.

PLOT DECORATIONS

MUST BE REMOVED

Officers of the burial ground surrounding the Trucksville United Methodist Church request that plot owners and descendants responsible for plots remove all decorations by April 1 to make spring cleanup possible.

SUPPORT GROUP

The Dallas Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet at 12:30 p.m. on April 3 in the board room of the Meadows Nursing and Rehab Center, 4 E. Center Hill Road, Dallas.

CONTRA DANCE

A Contra dance featuring music by fiddlers Bruce Young and Ryck Kaiser with pianist Peggy Shutes and calling by Ted Crane will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 at the Church of Christ Uniting, 776 Market St., Kingston.

No partner or previous experience is necessary. Admission to the dance is “pay what you wish.” Come early at 6 p.m. for a pot-luck dinner.

SPAGHETTI DINNER

Members of Boy Scout Troop #155, Trucksville, will hold their annual spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 at the Trucksville United Methodist Church.

The dinner will include spaghetti, homemade meatballs and sauce, Italian bread, garden salad, beverage and a dessert. The cost of a dinner is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 10 years of age. Take-outs will be available.

MEADOWS EVENT

The Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will hold a “Spring EGGstravanza” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 5.

This free, family event will feature the Easter Bunny (don’t forget your camera!), children’s games, crafts, refreshments, vendors and an auxiliary-sponsored bake sale.

BINGO PLANNED

A 50/50 Bingo will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at the Noxen School, School Street, Noxen.

Food and beverages available will be available. Players will pay per card. All proceeds benefit the Noxen-Monroe Sportsmen’s Club.

EASTER EGG HUNT

Dallas Borough will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at the Kenneth Young Memorial Park located on the corner of Burndale Road and Luzerne Avenue in Dallas Borough.

Children ages 1-10 who reside in Dallas Borough are invited to attend. Children will be able to hunt for eggs, play games and have their faces painted. There will also be a chance for children to win a raffle basket.

LODGE BREAKFAST

Dallas Oneida Lodge 371 will hold its annual all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 12 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (turn left on Route 118 then first right), Dallas.

Donation of $7 is requested. The breakfast includes eggs, sausage, home fries, pancakes, orange juice, coffee, tea and a pastry.

LIBRARY LUNCHEON

The Friends of the Back Mountain Memorial Library have set Thursday, April 24 for their annual Luncheon With A Special Author. The event will take place at the Appletree Terrace, Newberry Estate, Dallas.

Tickets will go on sale in March at the library on Huntsville Road in Dallas.

MOUNTIN’ CANCER 5K

Mountin’ Cancer 5K, a Misericordia University Sport Management student-run event supporting the Medical Oncology Associates Prescription Fund, will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 27 at Frances Slocum State Park.
