CONFERENCE

Dallas Middle School students Drew Dickson and Andrew Gryskevicz have been nominated to attend the Junior National Young Leaders Conference: Foundations of Leadership, a six-day Envision program this July in Washington, DC.

Middle school students from across the United States will take part in a leadership development experience. The program provides a historical view of leadership and encourages young scholars to develop their own leadership skills and strategies for success in the 21st century.

HOOVER STUDIES

IN PERU

Elizabeth Hoover, of Dallas, recently completed a three-week faculty-led study abroad program to the Los Amigos Biological Station in the lowland Amazon forest in Peru. She is a junior majoring in biology and mathematics at King’s College.

As a participant in the program, titled “Tropical Ecosystems,” Hoover was among a group of eight King’s students who conducted independent research and travelled to cultural sites in Lima, Cusco, Puerto Maldonado, and Machu Picchu.

THREE INDUCTED

Bradley Sedor, of Shavertown, Christopher Kim and Alannah Trombetta, both of Dallas, were recently inducted into the Cum Laude Society at Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School. The society is the national academic honor society for college preparatory schools.

ABHISHEK IS

AWARD WINNER

Wyoming Seminary graduate Sai Abhishek, of Shavertown, son of Drs. Chintalapati and Sreelatha Varma, received the Dr. William Schuler Pierce Award in recognition of his excellence in science during the school’s 170th commencement.

Prior to commencement, Abhishek received the President’s Educational Excellence Award. He has been inducted into the Cum Laude Society, the national academic honor society for college preparatory schools. He also was named to the Dean’s List with High Honors for the spring term and was a National Merit Scholarship finalist and served as a reader in the Baccalaureate service.

FRANIA HONORED

Wyoming Seminary graduate Ryan Frania, of Shavertown, received the V. Helen Anderson Art Award during the school’s 170th commencement, in recognition of the quality of his sustained work in art while at Sem.

Prior to commencement, he received the Holman Religious Leadership Award. He also was named to the Dean’s List with High Honors for the spring term.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Frania.
