Pipeline panel discussion set for Sept. 17

The Gas Drilling Awareness Coalition will host a Pipeline Panel at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at the Dallas American Legion, 730 Memorial Hwy (Route 415), Dallas.

Residents and municipalities in Luzerne County have been receiving letters from different natural gas companies on a number of pipeline projects. This event is a panel discussion that will allow residents, neighbors and municipal leaders to ask questions about property values, insurance issue, and legal matters, as well as environmental impacts. The issue of eminent domain will also be discussed. The panel will consist of people knowledgeable in these fields.

The panelists include:

Joe Fisher, real estate appraiser, Fisher & Fisher Appraisals Inc., East Stroudsburg

Todd O’Malley on legal issues from O’Malley & Langan Law Offices, Scranton

Sam Koplinka-Loehr from the Clean Air Council, who will speak about environmental issues

An insurance processional yet to be announced.

Currently, four pipeline projects are proposed in Luzerne County: Atlantic Sunrise, Williams LLC, in Dallas, Ross, Lake, Fairmount, Lehman and Dallas Townships; Leidy Expansion, Williams LLC, in Slocum, Dorrance and Bear Creek Townships; PennEast, UGI, in Dallas, Kingston Township, West Wyoming, Wyoming, Plains, and Bear Creek Townships; and the Diamond East Project, Williams LLC, Dallas, Kingston, West Wyoming, Wyoming, Plains and Bear Creek Townships.

This panel discussion is open to the public.
