Jim Breck and John Mulhern defeated defending champions Lou Belgio and Scott Francis in the championship to capture the title of the Potentate Tournament, held at Irem Temple Country Club Aug. 1-3.
Breck-Mulhern defeated Brian Suder and Mike Bonovoglia in one championship flight semifinal while Belgio-Francis knocked off Brett Slocum-Jim Hoover in the other.
Gary Krawetz and Marty Behm were the qualifying medalists with 67 on the first day when the 16 championship flight teams were determined.
Flight winners were Ray Irvin-Karl Blight, first; Bob Bogensberger-Bill Holly, second; Doug Klopp-Frank Pinnacoli, third; Chad Kelly-Dave Straley, fourth; Jack Serafin-Jim Serafin, fifth; Jim O’Boyle-Jim Connors, sixth; Bob Roberts-Chuck Malpass, seventh; Walt Kucharchik-Rob Bresnahan, eighth; D.L. Sadvary-Tom Steltzer, ninth; George Conklin-Larry Schuler, 10th; Pete Welgus-Rick Franks, 11th.
The Irem Temple men’s club championship is scheduled for Aug. 30-31.
