The winning pitcher was misidentified in a story about the 9-6 Dallas softball victory over Lake-Lehman in last week’s edition of The Dallas Post.

Sydney Kern should have been listed as both the winning pitcher and a key offensive contributor in the April 9 victory.

The left-handed junior came on in relief in the second inning of the Wyoming Valley Conference game.

Kern hit a batter with her first pitch, then retired eight straight batters, a feat she duplicated to end the game. She allowed just two hits while striking out six in 5 2/3 innings, ending five of the six innings with strikeouts.

At the plate, Kern had three hits and scored twice. She tripled to drive in a run and open the scoring in the top of the first. Kern’s bunt single in the third drew a wild throw that allowed two runs to score and put Dallas ahead to stay.

The Dallas Post regrets the error.
