The continued success that the Dallas Harvest Festival has enjoyed in its 12 years on Main Street is the result of team effort, both within the steering committee, as well as within the community – the local business community. Area business owners are among the generous benefactors whose contributions sponsor festival-related events and activities. They are the unsung heroes of the Dallas Harvest Festival.

The festival could not exist without the support of Dallas Borough, which not only hosts the annual event, but provides the venue and manpower that work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every minute detail is ready to roll for festival day.

Misericordia University has played an important part from year one as Volunteer Sponsor, providing more than 100 able-bodied students to help with the lifting and support tasks it takes to present a day-long event. The folks at Hilbert’s Equipment provide the use of their manpower and equipment to function as the festival’s Logistics Sponsor.

Lewith & Freeman Real Estate in Shavertown has been the festival’s Stage Sponsor for all 12 years, securing the hydraulic stage that sits on Main Street near the intersection of Route 415 proudly presenting the local talent that entertains 5,000+ annual visitors.

Frontier Communications, with local offices on Route 309, in Dallas, is among the annual event’s long-time business sponsors, beginning its festival relationship with 10 years of Kiss the Pig Contests. Following a decade dedicated to porcine smooching, judged humorously each year by Magisterial District Judge James Tupper, Frontier continues to support the Back Mountain community through festival sponsorship. This year, it will supply hundreds of helium balloons that will be distributed as a significant part of the “Year of the Family” theme.

Another long-time sponsor is InterMountain Medical Group, Shavertown office, which began its relationship with the festival as the sponsor for the Back Mountain Idol Contest. Through the years, the event has evolved into the Best of Open Mic (BOOM). BOOM will take place on Friday, Sept. 12 beginning with sign-ups at 5:30 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 50 Main St., Dallas.

Other sponsors that have stuck with their respective events/activities for a number of years include Senator Lisa Baker, for Kid’s Corner (children’s activities and Take the Stage, presented at Kid’s Corner on the hour); Hildebrandt Learning Centers, for NE Youth Theatre (Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, performed on-stage); Embellish Home Accents, for the Display Contest; and Clement’s Dentisty, for Photo Booth (returning this year by popular demand).

This year, Generation to Generation is the sponsor for the Family Photo Contest, which will offer nine cash prizes for three categories of family photos, past and present. There is still time to participate. For a complete list of rules and release form, visit www.dallasharvestfestival.com.

In addition to the NE Youth Theatre, Hildebrandt Learning Centers will also sponsor a special butterfly exhibit and release during this year’s festival. The release of three dozen butterflies will take place at 4:10 p.m. behind the borough building.

This year’s special Sower’s Circle sponsors are Kovalchick, Kollar & Co., LLP, Dallas Tap & Grille, Hogan’s Heroes & Pizza, and Quality Collision.
