Connor Martinez, former Dallas wrestler and PA State medalist (2014) made his NCAA wrestling debut on Nov. 8 at the Ursinus Fall Brawl.
Martinez wrestles for the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY, and placed second at 165 in his first collegiate wrestling tournament.
He opened the day with a 3-1 win over Jesse Thorsen of The College of New Jersey. He went on to beat Shawn Kluchinsky of the United States Naval Academy, 5-1.
In the quarterfinals, Martinez defeated Frankie Weir of Western New England, with a 9-1 major decision. In the semis, he downed Brad Mutchnik of American University 2-1. Martinez fell to Doug Hamann of The College of New Jersey with a pinfall at 5:52.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Martinez was named Athlete of the week at RIT for the week of Nov. 10.
