Gabrielle Nicole Serratore, a freshman at Scranton Preparatory School, recently received the Albert and Carol Mueller Community Service Award. The $500 scholarship was presented in conjunction with the opening of the Mueller’s newest McDonald’s Restaurant at 1200 Wyoming Ave., Scranton.

Serratore received the award based on her service to her school and community, letters of recommendation and the content of an essay she composed on the topic “In What Ways Do You Envision Using Your Talents and Convictions in Service to Communities-Large and Small-in the Next Five Years?”

The daughter of Peter and Pamela Serratore, of Dallas, Serratore is an honor student at Scranton Prep. She is a member of the school’s debate team and softball and tennis teams. She volunteers at Blue Chip Animal Farms, The Lands at Hillside Farms, The Meadows Nursing Home and the St. Vincent De Paul Kitchen.
