Kingston Township schedules spring cleanup

Spring cleanup will be held Monday, May 5 through Saturday, May 10 at the Kingson Township Public Works Facility, 225 E. Center St., Shavertown.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The following items will not be accepted: Household trash or garbage, recyclable items such as newspapers, plastics, bi-metallic cans, clear and colored glass, tree stumps, rocks; construction debris; toxic substances but not limited to paints, solvents, automotive fluids, fertilizers, medical waste or any chemicals.

Other items not accepted include all electronis such as TVs, computers, etc.; tires, washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, furnaces, stoves, microwaves, water heaters or other large appliances. Air conditioners or dehumidifiers that are not tagged with a certified sticker from a professional stating that the Freon has been removed will not be accepted. American flags should be presented to the staff for propert disposal.

The cleanup is open to Kingston Township residents only and proof of township residency is required to obtain a coupon.

All residents are required to obtain a coupon prior to dropping off any materials in accoranace with the folliwng fee schedule: Cars, small SUVs, $5/ permit with a 3-trip limit or $10 for unlimated trips; vans, mid-size SUVs and small trucks, $10/permit with a 2-trip limit or $25 for unlimited trips; large trucks/trailers/ cargo vans. large SUVs (less than 1 ton), $35/ permit with a 1-trip limit or vehilces greater than 1 ton, $90/permit with a 1-trip limit.

Coupons are issued to the occupants of rental units, not to the owners. Proper ID will be required with coupons for admission to the drop-off site.

The township reserves exclusive right to determine residency of persons entering the site and in determining the classification of vehicles.
