FRIEDMAN WALK

Family Service Association of NEPA will hold its Sixh Annual Pauly Friedman 5K Family Walk/Run today, Aug. 10 at Misericordia University. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with registration; race time is 9:30 a .m.

Cost is $25 per person and all proceeds benefit Help Line/211, a 24-hour/ 7-day per week information and referral and after hours crisis service in our community. The walk/run is open to all ages and an after race awards party will be open to all participants.

HARMONY CONCERT

A Harmony Concert will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10 at the Irem Temple Country Club Pavilion, Dallas, as part of the Irem’s Summer Concert Series.

The free to the public concert will feature the Wyoming Valley Barbershop Harmony Chorus under director Raymond Patsko, of Wilkes-Barre, and assistant director Phillip Brown, of Shavertown.

SUPPORT GROUP

Grandparents raising grandchildren support group will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Dallas.

This support group provides grandparents to gather and discuss common issues concerning child rearing issues. It iss open to the public free of charge.

ROUNDTABLE MEETS

The Wyoming Valley Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14 in the lower level of the Daddow-Isaacs American Legion, 730 Memorial Highway, Dallas.

The program will be presented by Martha Pezzino, an Assistant Professor of History at Luzerne County Community College, who will cover the various roles the women took on in the Civil War, both locally and nationally.

OUTDOOR MOVIE

Cub Scout Pack 281 will host an outdoor screening of “The LEGO Movie” at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23 on the lawn at Trinity Presbyterian Church.

The program will start with campfire songs and skits with the movie starting at dusk. Participants may bring a blanket or lawn chair.
