Run For The Fallen, a 5K Run to honor fallen soldiers, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus in Lehman Township. Walkers are also welcome.

This event, in its seventh year, honors all soldiers who have lost their lives serving our country.

It began as a national event in which runners ran across the country, placing markers at every mile to honor the soldiers who had lost their lives in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The local event is being c-ordinated by the Dallas High School cross country team and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the 1st Lt. Michael J. Cleary Memorial Fund. Cleary was a Dallas High School graduate who lost his life in military action. His foundation aides charities that support families and causes of soldiers who have lost their lives or were wounded defending our country.

Registration is $15 per participant or $50 for a team of four people. Free t-shirts will go to the first 100 registrants and pre-registration is currently underway.

Obtain a registratio nform by contacting Marjorie Adams at Adams8PA@aol.com. Participants may also register the night of the race beginning at 5 p.m.
