Matthew Doggett, of Shavertown, a senior wrestler at Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School, will continue his academic and athletic career at Columbia University, New York City, N.Y., in fall, 2014.

Doggett, who wrestles at 220 lbs., started wrestling at age nine and competed with the Back Mountain Wrestling Club for four years; he also wrestled with the Benton Tigers and the Shamrock Wrestling Club. A two-time Prep All-American, he took eighth place as a sophomore and sixth place as a junior at the National Prep Tournament, both at 195 lbs.

He also earned fourth place finishes at the state prep tournament in his sophomore and junior years. He placed third at the 2013 Beast of the East Tournament at 220 lbs, won the 2013 Hurricane Classic and placed seventh at the 2013 Doc Buchanan Tournament. He currently has a record of 104-35.

Doggett, who hopes to wrestle his freshman year at 197 lbs., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Doggett of Shavertown.
