Active Adult Centers sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne and Wyoming Counties offer hot noon meals Monday through Friday to people 60 years of age or older. For participants age 60+ a $2.00 meal donation is gratefully accepted. The monies are needed in order to expand this program.
The following is the menu for the week of Sept. 22:
MONDAY: BBQ pork and sauce, relish, summer succotash, baked potato wedges, whole wheat sandwich roll, fruit sorbet, margarine, milk and coffee.
TUESDAY: Spaghetti with meat sauce (whole wheat pasta), steamed garlic spinach, Italian bread, fresh melon chunks, Parmesan cheese, margarine, milk and coffee.
WEDNESDAY: Octoberfest special dinner – Sauerbraten (German pot roast), German style potato salad, pickled red cabbage (warm), Philly style soft pretzel, pumpernickel bread/sour cream, German chocolate pudding, margarine, milk and coffee.
THURSDAY: Sautéed beef and broccoli, orange glazed carrots, noodles, whole wheat bread, sugar cookie, margarine, milk and coffee.
FRIDAY: Hot dog (low sodium), mustard, ketchup, baked beans, chopped onions, roasted potato wedges, whole wheat hot dog roll, fresh watermelon, margarine, milk and coffee.
