The 33rd Annual Wilkes-Barre Triathlon will make its way through the Back Mountain on Sunday, Aug. 17.
The first wave of swimmers will begin at Harveys Lake at 7:30 that morning.
Olympic distance competition will feature a 1.5-kilometer swim, followed by a 40-kilometer bike and 11-kilometer run. Sprint distance competitors will cover a course of 750-meter swim, 26 kilometer bike and 5.5-kilometer run.
There will be overall and age group awards in both divisions.
Penn State-Wilkes-Barre is the staging area for entrants arriving in the morning and will also be the site of the awards presentation.
Sean Robbins, of Shavertown, is the defending champion.
More than 400 entrants annually participate in the event, which passes through Harveys Lake, Noxen, Kunkle, Jackson Township and Lehman. Close to 1,000 local volunteers help keep the event successful.
