Grandparents meet

Grandparents raising grandchildren support group will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at. St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dallas. This free-of-charge support group provides grandparents an opportunity to gather and discuss common issues concerning child rearing issues.

Call the church office 570-675-3859 to schedule child care. St. Paul’s Church is handicapped accessible.

Clothes Closet

The Clothes Closet at River of Life Fellowship Ministries, 22 Outlet Road, Lehman will re-open on Saturday. Sept. 13 and remain open from noon to 2 p.m. every Saturday.

A large selection of clothing for all ages and sizes is available, as well as a variety of accessories. Monetary donations are accepted, but are not required.

Turkey dinner

A roast turkey dinner and bake sale will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Loyalville United Methodist Church.

Ticket prices are $9 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12 years of age. Takeouts are available by calling 570-477-3521 and leaving your name, phone number, number of dinner requested and pickup time.

A hoagie sale will be held on Oct. 7. Hoagies, at $5 each, may be ordered by claling 570-477-3521.

Watch fire

remembers vets

The “Remembering Our Veterans Memorial” group from Back Mountain Harvest Assembly of God Church, Trucksville will host a watch fire to spiritually guide home, remember and honor all the POW/MIA from America’s wars and conflicts on Friday, Sept. 19, National POW/MIA Recognition Day.

The lighting of Watch Fire will occur at approximately 5:30 pm while the ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm on the church’s grounds.

Guest speaker will be Edward Zimmerman, Marine Corps and Vietnam veteran, who will speak about his recent trip to Khe Sanh, Vietnam, where he helped locate an area where the possible remains of two Marines, listed as missing in action, may be found.
