Honor Guard

Candlelight vigil

The Meadows Nursing Center, 4 E.Center Hill Road, Dallas, is hosting a candle light vigil for those who have lost their loved ones at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

There will be special music and prayers, candlelighting outdoors and refreshments indoors.

The event is sponsored be the Back Mountain Alzheimers Support Group.

Free flu shots

Tyler Memorial Hospital, State Route 6, Tunkhannock, will offer a free flu and pneumonia vaccine clinic to the public from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 12 inside the hospital chapel on the first floor.

Appointments are required since the supply of the free vaccine is limited.

To make an appointment, call Donna Guman, R.N., infection control nurse, at 570-996-1266. The vaccine was purchased by Wyoming County Community Health Foundation.

Roundtable meets

The Wyoming Valley Civil War Roundtable will meetat 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13 in the lower level of the Daddow-Isaacs American Legion, 730 Memorial Highway, Dallas.

“The Gettysburg Story” film tells the history of the greatest battle fought in the Western Hemisphere. The stories of characters who experienced the battle come alive through the dynamic, innovative imagery that captures the historic battleground, and directed by Jake Boritt, acclaimed documentary filmmaker.

Toy bingo

The Franklin Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a toy bingo at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Franklin Twp. Fire Hall, 329 Orange Road.

Admission is just $5.00 with each book being $15. Toys already collected include bicycle helmets, Webkins and items from the movie “Frozen.” There will also be “specials” that can be purchased separately. Homemade foods for purchase and free coffee will be avialable all day.

Bingo slated

Bingo will be held on Monday, Nov. 17 at the Northmoreland Twp. Fire Hall in Centermoreland.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and early birds begin at 6:30 p.m. Food and beverage available.

The Meadows Nursing & Rehabilitation Center will offer free, confidential memory screenings from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18. National Memory Screening Day is an initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
