League event

The Greater Pittston La Leche League will present “Live, Love, Latch!” at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 24 at The Lands at Hillside Farms in Shavertown.

This is a community event open to the entire family. This event is presented by LLL USA and hosted throughout the country during August in honor of National Breastfeeding Month. As well as promoting breastfeeding, this celebration also provides an opportunity to educate family, friends, healthcare providers and other community members about how they can support breastfeeding.

Volunteer

The Volunteer Department at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas, will hold an adult volunteer orientation at 10 a.m. on Aug. 26. Volunteers are needed for beauty shop Assistant on an as0needed basis, activities volunteer for evenings and/or weekends and people who can spend one on one time with those residents who may otherwise have no visitors.

Bingo slated

Bingo will be held on Monday, Aug. 28 at the Northmoreland Twp. Fire Hall in Centermoreland.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and early birds begin at 6:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be available.

Blue Chip

benefit dance

The Sixth Annual Blue Chip Farms Animal Refuge Benefit Dnace will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29 at the Irem Temple Country Pavilion, Dallas, featuring music by Daddy-O and the Sax Maniax.

Cost is $25 per person or $200 for a table of eight. Dinner and soft drinks included. A cash bar will be available.

luncheon

The Back Mountain Bloomers Garden Club will host their fall luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Irem Country Club, Dallas. Guest speaker will be Jerry Fritz, well-known author and garden designer from Ottsville.

The event is open to the public at a cost of $30.
