For the ninth consecutive year, Pennsylvania’s One Book, Every Young Child program that highlights the importance of early literacy development in preschoolers ages 3 to 6 was held at the Back Mountain Memorial Library.

Jean Grube, of Trucksville, read and explained the PA One Book program to the children and then led them in songs, fingersplay and games. Assisting was her daugher, Clara, an education major at Lyclming College, and Olivia Marquart, an early childhood specialist and graduate student of Salve Regina University, R.I.

The title chosen for the 2014 Pennsylvania One Book, Every Young Child program was “Stripes of All Types,” written and illustrated by Susan Stockdale.
