TUNKHANNOCK — Bruce R. Rathbun passed away July 21, 2014, in Tunkhannock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna M. Moore Rathbun. Funeral services were July 26 from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock.


KINGSTON — Matilda “Millie” Nardone, of Kingston and formerly of Mountain Top, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2014, surrounded by her loving children. Her husband, the late Atty. Vincent C. Nardone, preceded her in death in 1964. She had family in Dallas. Funeral was July 24 from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Ignatius Church.


BRADENTON, Fla. — Robert Patrick Pierson Jr., passed away July 16, 2014, at Hospice House in Bradenton. Born Aug. 9, 1957, in Newark, New Jersey, he lived in Harveys Lake for over 20 years and leaves behind family in the Tunkhannock area. A memorial service will be held at later date.


GERMAN HILL — Daniel P. Kenia Sr., 70, of German Hill, died July 24, 2014, at his home. He was born June 3, 1944, in Meshoppen, a son of the late Anthony and Dorothy Martin Kenia. He had family in Tunkhannock. Mass of Christian Burial was held July 28 from the St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, Dalton Road, Lake Winola. A viewing was held July 28 at Stonehedge Country Club, 287 German Hill Road, Factoryville.


CHICAGO, Ill. — Rosemarie H. Sobol, 88, a resident of Chicago and a former resident of Dallas, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Her beloved husband of 39 years was the late John A. Sobol, who passed away on April 10, 1987. Funeral was conducted July 26 from the Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.


SHAVERTOWN — Kathleen A. Cunningham, 55, of Shavertown, passed away on July 24, 2014, at her home. Funeral services were July 28 held from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Andrew Parish, 316 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre.


CLARKS SUMMIT — John J. Prislupsky, Clarks Summit, entered into Heaven surrounded by his loving family on July 26, 2014. He loved serving as an usher at St Ann’s Basilica, so it was fitting that the angels took him home on the feast day of St. Ann. He had family in Dallas.The funeral was held July 30 from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann St., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial in St Ann’s Basilica.


LARKSVILLE — Arthur C. Miles, of Tiffany Court, Larksville, formerly of Hanover Township, passed away July 26, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He had family in Shavertown. Funeral services were held July 30 from the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home Inc., 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke.


TUNKHANNOCK — William J. Shiffer, 91, of Tunkhannock, died July 27, 2014, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. Born Sept. 6, 1922, he was a son of the late William J. and Virginia Cook Shiffer Sr. Funeral services were held July 31 from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock.


WILKES-BARRE — Joyce Ponzelli, 93, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away July 27, 2014, at St. Luke’s Villa, Wilkes-Barre. She had family in Dallas. Funeral services were held July 30 from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.


DALLAS — Dorothea “Dottie” W. Henry, 82, of Dallas, passed away July 29, 2014, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank M. Henry. Funeral services were held August 2 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 474 Yalick Road, Route 118, Dallas. Arrangements were entrusted to the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
