Home Run Derby benefits Schilling Scholarship

Former Dallas High School baseball player Jason Schilling was rememberd on June 1 with the Jason Schilling Memorial Home Run Derby held at the Dallas High School baseball field. The inaugural event was rescheduled from its original May 18 date due to inclement weather.

The fundraising event was held in memoryof Schiling, a three-year baseball letter winner (2010-2012) at Dallas High School who died in an automobile accident on Dec. 1, 2012.

Proceeds of the derby will benefit an annual Jason Schiling Memorial Scholarship fund (to benefit a senior Dallas HIgh student-athlete) and St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen where Schiling volunteered. The first scholarship was presented to Domenic Oliveri by Jim Schilling, Jason’s father.

Winners of the derby received a plaque, publicity and a complikjmentary photo/poster keepsake.
