SCRANTON — Doris “Betty” (Cohen) Gelfand, 98, Scranton, died May 4, 2014, in the Jewish Home, Scranton. She had family in Tunkhannock. Shiva was held in Scranton. Arrangements by Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Dunmore.

ROCCOGRANDI

SHAVERTOWN — Anthony S. Roccograndi, of Shavertown, passed away at home on May 5, 2014, at the age of 83. Mr. Roccograndi was born in New York City on June 30, 1930. Funeral was held May 9 at the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa Church, Davis Street, Shavertown.

SHAVERTOWN — Suzanne A. Katchko, of Shavertown, passed away on May 5, 2014, at the Wilkes Barre General Hospital. Funeral was held May 9 from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by Mass of Christian Burial in All Saints Parish, 66 Willow St., Plymouth.

DALLAS — Fred Lloyd Parry Sr., 62, of Dallas, was welcomed into heaven because of the sacrificing stripes of Our Lord Jesus Christ on May 6, 2014, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Bethlehem. Funeral services were May 9 from the Back Mountain Harvest Assembly Church, 340 Carverton Road, Trucksville. Funeral arrangements by Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.

KONNICK

DALLAS — Peter M. Konnick, 51, of Dallas, passed away May 5, 2014, at his residence. Surviving is his wife of 26 years, the former Debra Gardner. Memorial service was May 10 at Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, with arrangements by the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas.

WILKES-BARRE — Norma Henning Ritchie, 93, died May 5, 2014, in the skilled nursing unit of St. Luke’s Villa, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in the Back Mountain. She was preceded in death by her husband, attorney George B. Ritchie. Funeral services were May 10 from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre.

LEWIS

FORKSTON — Louise R. Lewis, of Forkston, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Susan Lewis, Falls. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Herman Lewis, and had family in Tunkhannock. Memorial services were held May 12 from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock.

O’BOYLE

WINTERVILLE, N.C. — Marilyn Ruth Plashinski O’Boyle, of Winterville and formerly of Trucksville, returned home on April 14, 2014, at Hartford Hospital, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life service was May 10 in Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, 420 Main St., Dallas.

GUERIN

DALLAS — Mr. Frank “Peck” Guerin, of Dallas and formerly of Larksville, passed away on his 97th birthday, May 6, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, the former Lillian Cooper. A memorial service will be held in his honor at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the William A. Reese Funeral Chapel, Plymouth.

FRANTZ

MESHOPPEN — Mrs. Lois E. Frantz, 82, passed away May 8, 2014, at her home on Frantz Road in Meshoppen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Laird Frantz, who passed away on July 12, 1990. She had family in Tunkhannock. As per her request, there were no calling hours or services. Arrangements were made through the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 State Route 6, Meshoppen.

KINGSTON — Benjamin F. Phillips, 79, of Kingston, passed away May 8, 2014, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He had family in Dallas. Funeral services were May 12 from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.

MONROE TWP. — Robert J. Bush, 79, of Monroe Township, passed away May 8, 2014, at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. He had family in Harveys Lake. Funeral washeld May 12 from the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas.

KASARDA

DALLAS — Sister Mary Ancilla Kasarda, RSM, a member of the Mid-Atlantic Community of the Sisters of Mercy, died at Mercy Center, Dallas, on May 8, 2014. Wake service and viewing was held May 12 at Mercy Center, Dallas. Mass of Christian Burial was held May 13.

WYOMING — Thomas M. Mack, 61, of Wyoming, passed away May 10, 2014, at his home. He had family in Dallas. A celebration of Tom’s life was held May 16 in the Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Joseph J. Heiser, 95, formerly of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away on May 11, 2014, at the Timber Ridge Health Care Center, Plains Township. He had family in Dallas. Funeral services were May 15 from Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre.

LACEY

WILKES-BARRE — Marion Lacey, 89, formerly of Riverside Park, Wilkes-Barre, and Dallas, died May 10, 2014. A celebration of Marion’s life was held May 15 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Academy and South River streets, Wilkes-Barre. McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service assisted Marion’s family with arrangements.
