WILKES-BARRE — will become the 101st school in the country to offer a doctor of nursing practice degree. School officials made the announcement this afternoon at the Henry Student Center.

There are more than 600 nursing programs in the country but less than 17 percent offer this particular degree. In Pennsylvania, only Robert Morris University, the University of Pittsburgh, Chatham University, Drexel University, Waynesburg University, and Thomas Jefferson University have the degree program.

The college will begin the program next summer through its Nesbitt College of Pharmacy and Nursing.

According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, an additional 100 colleges are also considering starting up the degree program.
