Another case of swine flu ‘probable’

With one confirmed case of the swine flu already registered in Luzerne County, the state department of health is now saying there’s a “probable” case, too.

According to the department’s Web site, there are 10 probable cases across the state. The Centers for Disease Control has a backlog of samples to test, including the one from Luzerne County. To date there have been 40 confirmed cases statewide and more than 4,700 cases and four deaths nationwide.

Earlier this month, a Holy Redeemer High School student tested positive for the strain of influenza that was first found in Mexico and has now spread worldwide.

The student missed a week of school and was treated and cleared to attend classes. The school never closed but was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, according to the school’s principal James Redington.
