KINGSTON TWP. – A Tunkhannock man was charged today in connection to a fatal crash in Dallas earlier this year.

Dallas police Officer William Norris said James A. Faux, 23, was charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, two counts of driving under the influence and a single count of recklessly endangering another person.

Faux was arraigned by District Judge James Tupper in Trucksville and released on $50,000 unsecured bail.

Norris said Faux was the driver of a 1991 Toyota Camry that crashed into a tree on Main Street just before 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 11.

Faux was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township after the crash.

A passenger in the vehicle, Thomas Sands, 43, of Centermoreland, recently died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, Norris said.

Norris said Sands had been in a coma for several months following the crash.

Faux’s blood alcohol content was .221 percent, Norris said.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 8 before Tupper.
