Unbeaten Milton scored the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to post a 3-2 extra-innings win against Dallas in the Class 3A state softball playoffs Monday at Elm Street Park in Williamsport.

A strange play led to the winning run. With runners on second and third and one out, a Milton player hit a fly ball in foul territory near third base. Dallas third baseman Erin Bellas made the watch, despite being interfered with by the runner. The umpires ruled the runner was out for interference, but the batter remained at bat. She followed with a single to score the winning run.

Milton scored all of its runs with two outs – one each in the first, fourth and eighth innings. Meanwhile Dallas, which had posted two one-run victories during the District 2 playoffs, had several opportunities to score with two outs but failed to do so. Dallas pitcher Aly Evans ended a remarkable career with the loss. She allowed just a handful of hits to a Milton team that entered the game with a 22-0 record. She also struck out 10 batters.
