Gertrude May Wright Griffith, formerly of Idetown, will celebrate her 100th birthday on Thursday, June 5.

Griffith was born on June 5, 1908 to Frank Wright and Eva Swayze Cooke. She was one of nine children, all of whom preceded her in death. As a child, she lived in Idetown. Griffith graduated from Lehman High School and Wyoming Seminary School of Business.

She was married on June 24, 1933 to Willard Griffith in Idetown. She and her husband, who died in 1989, raised their children in Syracuse, N.Y. Wright has two sons, Daniel Willard Griffith, of Merritt Island, Fla.; and Richard Griffith, of Fayetteville, N.Y. She has five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Griffith worked for 16 years at the Onondaga Savings Bank and retired in 1973. She enjoys sewing, needlepoint, knitting and quilting. She is an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Syracuse University football and basketball teams.

A five-generation photo will be taken of Gertrude Griffith, Richard Griffith, Carolyn Griffith Valenson, Niklos Kadick and Zackery Allen Kadick.

In celebration, a party will be held at LeMoyne Manor, Liverpool, N.Y, on June 14 with a guest list of 60 people.
