LEHMAN TWP. — Run For The Fallen, a 5K run to honor fallen soldiers, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at the Penn State Wilkes- Barre campus. Walkers are also welcome.

This event, in its eighth year, honors soldiers who have lost their lives serving our country. It began as a national event in which runners ran across the country placing markers at every mile to honor soldiers who had lost their lives in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The local event is coordinated by the Dallas High School cross country team and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the 1st Lt. Michael J. Cleary Memorial Fund. Cleary was a Dallas High School graduate who lost his life in military action. His foundation aides charities that support families and causes of soldiers who have lost their lives or were wounded defending our country.

Registration is $15 per participant or $50 for a team of four. T-shirts will be given to the first 100 registrants and pre-registration is currently underway. Registration forms may be obtained at www.neparunner.com or by contacting Marjorie Adams at Adams8PA@aol.com. Registration will also be conducted at 5 p.m. the night of the race.
