LUZERNE COUNTY – The Luzerne County Fair is looking for the next Luzerne County Fair Queen. Applicants should like to meet entertainers, talk with exhibitors, award ribbons and greet people from all of Pennsylvania. Poise, the ability to communicate and a passion for the Luzerne County Fair should be possessed by those entering the contest.

This year’s fair Queen will receive a $1000 Carrie L. Martin Memorial Endowment. Also, the first runner up will receive a $250 cash prize. Contestants must be between the ages of 16 (as of June 1, 2016) and 20.

The winner of the contest will serve as the Luzerne County Fair Queen for 2016-2017 and will represent Luzerne County throughout the week of the fair and at the State Fair Competition in Hershey in January 2017. In addition, she will be asked to make guest appearances throughout the year.

To enter, the young lady must submit a 300 word or less essay describing “What My Fair Means to My Community.” As a part of the contest, she will give a 3-5 minute speech on “Why you should come to my Fair.” She will also have a personal interview with the three judges.
