HARVEYS LAKE — A meeting to form a safety advisory committee was held at the Harveys Lake Municipal Building on June 29. The committee will focus on community safety and quality of life at Harveys Lake and will be geared toward the traffic safety of residents, as well as visitors to the lake.

Harveys Lake resident Attorney Gregory Fellerman contacted borough council president Bill Hilburt immediately after learning of the June 7 accident that claimed the life of Paula Jones, of Factoryville. Jones was running along Lakeside Drive, training for an upcoming triathlon. Harveys Lake resident Michael Scavone allegedly struck Jones with his vehicle and did not stop after the accident.

Fellerman claims to be very knowledgeable on highway safety rules and laws and wanted to get involved and share his knowledge, according to councilwoman Michell’e Boice. Boice added that Fellerman was also “quite concerned about his children crossing from their home over to the dock.” Boice further added that Fellerman “lives on one of our many blind corners.”

Hilburt has appointed Fellerman to head the new committee.

Fellerman, a founding partner of Fellerman & Ciarimboli, and his family have recently relocated to the borough.

Mike Daley, another Harveys Lake resident, presented council with information on safety rules and procedures. Daley wanted to be involved and joined the committee as well.

Anyone interested in joining the committee or seeking more information may contact Attorney Fellerman at gef@fclawpc.com or the borough’s secretary Susan Sutton at 570-639-2113.
