JACKSON TWP. — Entrepreneur Kris Jones will host a political fundraiser Feb. 15 that includes a visit from Chelsea Clinton.

The invitation-only dinner event will be held at Jones’ Jackson Township home with the intention that Chelsea Clinton will mingle with a selection of young professionals and members of the Northeast Pennsylvania Delegation, Jones said.

“I know she will address the group about (political) issues she cares about,” he said.

The fundraiser developed when Virginia McGregor of McGregor Industries in Dunmore reached out to Jones and his wife, Robin, to gauge their interested in hosting an event.

“The Clinton campaign was looking to host an event in Luzerne County,” Jones said.

Jones believed his connection with the Clintons that developed through his work on Capital Hill and as a district director for state Rep. Paul Kanjorski plus his success as a digital entrepreneur made him a candidate to host the political event.

He was unsure at first which Clinton would arrive.

“When we (Robin and Kris) heard that Chelsea was coming, we were very excited,” Jones said. “We feel we would have a lot in common with her.”

Jones is “in work mode” in preparation for the affair.

“I want to make it the best event we can so they will want to come back to the area,” he said. “I want to put Northeastern Pennsylvania on the map.”

Hillary Clinton has upheld her ties to the region throughout her political career. Her father, Hugh Rodham, was born in Scranton and Clinton has visited the Electric City several times during the presidential campaigns of her and husband.
